Method
for Appliqué using a design from Moonlight with Thermal Stick,
Fusible Peel
& Stick stabilizer:
*~*~*
1) Make a template
using the specific file included with all new appliqué designs from
Moonlight's Design Shoppe. Instructions
for Template.
`
`
2) Place template
with the design's reverse side up on the protective paper side of the fusible
stabilizer. Trace along the stenciled edge. Remove template.
Cut out the piece to be used for appliqué leaving a 1/4" margin
outside of your traced line.
`
`
`
3) Set the iron
to a medium-high heat (No Steam). Fuse the cut-out of the stabilizer
with the protective paper side up to the back side of the appliqué
fabric. Press 3-4 seconds and turn over, press again for another
3-4 seconds. Let cool.
`
`
`
4) Cut
out appliqué piece following the traced line on its outside edge.
Take care not to under-cut. You might also choose to leave all or
some of the excess margin and trim excess away after the tack-down stitches,
but it will be easier to line up if all excess has been removed.
`
`
5) After the
placement stitches of the appliqué design have sewn on the embroidery
area, peel away the protective paper on the back of the appliqué
piece, line up with the placement stitches and hand press it into place.
If preferred for maximum bond on large designs, press with an iron (this
is not usually necessary with small pieces or designs from Moonlight, or
when tack-down stitching immediately follows the placement line).
`
`
`
6) After tack-down
stitches sew, trim away any excess of the appliqué that you've allowed,
if necessary. Complete sewing.
The design used in this
example can be purchased from Moonlight's Design Shoppe at

Loon Appliqué Design.
