For licensing information, contact Collegiate Concepts in Atlanta, GA. They handle most of the major Universities & Colleges. Fee's are reasonable, but there is a fairly lengthy paperwork & approval process. (By the way, many smaller colleges have their own in-house licensing programs. Contact their legal department for more information.)

Pro-sports are a different breed. Unless you are a Major Player, with lots of bucks, you can forget Pro-Sports, such as NFL, NBA, and MBL. If you were able to obtain a license (highly unlikely) you would be required to provide a certain percentage of anticipated Royalties IN ADVANCE. These sums can easily reach into the upper 6 figure range.

But not to be discouraged, there are still some areas of Pro-Sports that are approachable by the average embroiderer. For example, there are several levels of Pro-Soccer. At least one of these leagues allows the individual teams to select there own sources, rather requiring them to use only league approved sources. So try contacting individual teams. Minor league baseball seems to fall into this category also.

Information on many sports leagues and their teams can be found on the Internet with a little bit of searching.

Acquiring contract work through licensed embroiderers should also be seen as a possibility.  When the work is obtained following appropriate license regulations. It's an excellent opportunity to prove the quality of your work and can open otherwise closed doors.
